Elemento
Colour-coded reinforcement cages modelled over structural drawings

Workflow — everything on the Elemento ribbon tab

From Your First Bar to Your Final Schedule.

Step 1 of 9

Set the rules once. Put them to work again.

Your detailing decisions are worth keeping. A preset saves the rules a reinforcement command follows, so the next member starts with your settings already in place.

Define your reinforcement

Choose the bar types, spacing and arrangement available in the member tool. Save the settings as a named preset.

Apply it to the next member

Select the preset when creating reinforcement. The command uses those settings to build the cage for the supported member you choose.

Take it to the next project

Export and import presets with Preset Manager. Build a reusable library of reinforcement settings instead of entering them again.

Give every project the right starting point

Import Standards brings in reinforcement shapes, bar types, annotation resources, schedule templates and presets from the country template. Your tools and saved rules have the resources they need.

Step 2 of 9

Turn modelled members into reinforced members.

Let Elemento do the repetitive placement. Pick a supported member, choose your preset and create its reinforcement with a dedicated command.

A tool for the members you detail every day

Build reinforcement for beams, curved beams, columns, walls, slabs and floors, pad footings, column starter bars, and slab or wall openings.

On your Elemento tab in Revit

From stirrup zones and longitudinal bars to slab mesh and opening reinforcement, keep your settings together and let the member tool handle the placement.

Beams and curved beams

Create stirrups, spacing zones and longitudinal bars. Use the dedicated Curved Beams tool for reinforcement that follows the arc.

Columns and walls

Control column verticals, ties and confinement zones, or build wall mesh on one or both faces with spacing by direction.

Footings and openings

Build footing mats, add column starters and reinforce rectangular openings with trimmers, edge U-bars and corner diagonals.

Scale up with Auto Rebar

Choose the supported member types in the active view and a preset for each. Create their reinforcement in one operation, grouped into one undo step. Types you leave unticked stay untouched.

Step 3 of 9

Add the reinforcement that makes the detail yours.

Combine automated member reinforcement with manual placement wherever your detail needs it. Keep working from the same Elemento tab.

Revit’s native placement tools, ready alongside Elemento’s automation.

Rebar

Place individual reinforcement using Revit’s shape browser and sketch tools when the detail calls for your own arrangement.

Path and Morphed

Use Revit’s native free-form reinforcement tools for placement that follows the geometry of your detail.

Step 4 of 9

Refine the bars without rebuilding the detail.

Openings, joints and revisions are part of the job. Elemento gives you focused tools to adjust reinforcement already in the model and cut down repetitive editing.

Modify panel with Split at Opening, Split Rebar, Split Set and Splice Rebar
On your Elemento tab in Revit

Split at Opening

Cut bars around an opening and pull their new ends back by cover.

Split Rebar

Cut bars at a point, detail line or reference plane and keep both pieces.

Split Set

Divide a set between bar positions without changing the bar lengths.

Splice Rebar

Create a lap with control over lap length, offset and alternate-bar stagger.

Carry a change across similar members

Reopen reinforcement settings with Edit Member. Use Match Member to copy an arrangement to compatible members of the same kind, and Rebar Manager to find the members you need.

Step 5 of 9

Find it. Select it. Keep modelling.

A busy reinforcement model should not slow you down. Switch visibility states, select the steel you need and focus on one host with dedicated commands that make everyday modelling and navigation faster.

Rebar Visibility panel: Hide Rebar, Show Rebar, Select Rebar, Hide obscured, Show obscured, Delete Rebar, Hide by Host, Select by Host, Delete by Host, Isolate Rebar and Unisolate Rebar
On your Elemento tab in Revit

Clear the view in a moment

Use Hide Rebar and Show Rebar to switch between the concrete model and its reinforcement. Show obscured bars through their host when you need to inspect them, then hide obscured bars again.

Select the right steel faster

Select Rebar gathers reinforcement in the active view. Select by Host narrows the selection to a picked member, saving repeated individual bar selections.

Move straight to the member

Isolate Rebar focuses the view on a member and its hosted elements. Work on the reinforcement, then use Unisolate Rebar to return to the wider model. Hide by Host clears one member’s reinforcement from the view.

Remove reinforcement at the right scope

Use Delete by Host for a picked member, or Delete Rebar for reinforcement visible in the active view. Choose the scope that matches the change you are making.

Step 6 of 9

Manage your reinforced members. Make changes with control.

Rebar Manager brings members reinforced by Elemento into one working list. Find the element, review its reinforcement and reopen its settings to make the changes your model needs.

Rebar Manager — your working list for model reinforcement changes.

Find the member you need to change

Filter the list by element type and review each member’s family, type and recorded preset. Select or zoom to a member directly from the manager.

Reopen the settings. Revise the reinforcement.

Double-click a member or choose Edit to open its reinforcement tool. Adjust its settings and reapply the generator to replace the reinforcement it previously created.

Check what is still in the model

Status indicators show whether all recorded bars are present or some are missing. See which members need attention before continuing with a revision.

Act on the member from one place

Use the row menu to select, zoom to, edit or isolate the member, reset the view, or delete its Elemento-generated reinforcement. Keep the member and its reinforcement changes connected throughout the modelling workflow.

Step 7 of 9

Turn the reinforcement into a readable drawing.

Carry your model into the detail. Annotate the reinforcement you have created with consistent callouts that communicate the arrangement clearly.

Repeatable annotations. Fewer placement clicks.

Auto Range places aligned multi-rebar annotations using offsets from the host boundary. Apply consistent tag placement across selected sets and keep your drawings organised.

Prepare the view with Quick Section and parameter-based colour filters. Show Single displays a representative bar from each set for a clearer detail; Show All restores the full sets.

  • Annotate selected rebar sets in one operation
  • Position callouts using offsets from the host boundary
  • Use representative bars to keep busy details readable

Step 8 of 9

From model to bending schedules. Onto sheets in one click.

Automate the generation and editing of bending schedules, then let Elemento arrange them on sheets. Keep the reinforcement information connected to the Revit model throughout.

Generate from the model

Create native Revit bending schedules by reinforcement partition, bringing together bar marks, shape codes and bending dimensions from the model.

Review and adjust the steel

Manage partitions and change a scheduled row’s bar type with the diameter control. Work on the underlying reinforcement directly from the bending schedule interface.

Place schedules in one click

Choose your schedules and their order, then run Plot Schedules. Elemento splits and arranges them within the configured drawing area, continuing onto further sheets as needed.

Ready to share beyond the model

Export selected partitions to Excel, with a worksheet for each partition. Take the reinforcement information from the model through to the people who need it.

Step 9 of 9

Standard shapes. Special details. Ready out of the box.

Start with country-standard reinforcement shape codes and 100+ special pre-programmed shapes included with Elemento. Spend less time building shape families and more time detailing your project.

Country-standard shape codes

Build on Revit’s native reinforcement with shape-code resources for the supported country standard. Import Standards brings the library into your project, ready to use in your reinforcement workflow.

100+ special shapes included

Go beyond the standard shape tables with more than 100 special pre-programmed reinforcement shapes. They are supplied out of the box, so you can start with an existing shape instead of creating each family from scratch.

A library that grows with every release

New shapes are added with every new Elemento release, giving you a growing library for the reinforcement details you need to model.

Revit’s native reinforcement.
Your country’s detailing standards.

Elemento builds on Revit’s native reinforcement tools with country-specific shape libraries and scheduling resources. Bring the local shape codes and bending conventions into the same workflow as your model.

Explore the complete toolset

Looking for a particular command? Open a ribbon panel below to see what it does.

Setting Out

Turn picked points into a numbered, coordinated setting-out table that stays up to date.

  • SOP Table — pick points in a plan; each gets a numbered marker and their coordinates land in a live schedule, a drafting-view table, or both.
  • Update SOP — refresh every marker from its current position and redraw the tables.
Views

Cut a section without touching the section tool twice.

  • Quick Section — three picks: line start, line end, then a point on the side you want to look toward, whose distance sets the far-clip depth.
Add Rebar

Revit’s own manual bar placement, on the Elemento tab where the rest of your rebar work lives.

  • Add Rebar — places a single bar by hand using Revit’s shape browser and sketch mode.
  • Path and Morphed — access Revit’s native reinforcement placement tools from the Elemento tab.
Create Rebar

Nine generators that build a complete cage from a member you already modelled. Re-applying replaces what the tool made, so nothing duplicates.

  • Auto Rebar — reinforce every supported beam, column, wall and slab or floor in the active view at once, as one undo.
  • Beam — stirrups with up to three spacing zones plus top, bottom and side bars.
  • Curved Beams — stirrups at true arc-length spacing, square to the beam at each station, with longitudinal bars following the curve.
  • Column — ties with end-confinement zones, verticals per face and optional cross-links.
  • Wall — vertical and horizontal surface mesh on one or both faces, with per-direction spacing and hooks.
  • Slabs / Floors — top and bottom mesh on level or planar sloped slabs up to 45°, splitting around openings, with laps and stagger on long runs.
  • Pad Footing — top and bottom mats with four standard bar layouts.
  • Column Starters — finds every column on a picked footing and places L-bars matched to each column’s existing cage.
  • Slab / Wall Opening — trimmer bars, edge U-bars and corner diagonals around rectangular openings in walls and level slabs, with individual side controls.
Manage

A register of everything Elemento has reinforced, and the fastest way back into it.

  • Rebar Manager — every member carrying Elemento reinforcement, with a health check; select, zoom, edit, isolate or delete.
  • Edit Member — pick a reinforced member and its tool reopens bound to it.
  • Match Member — a format painter for reinforcement: copy one member’s cage onto as many of the same kind as you keep picking.
  • Preset Manager — every saved preset from every tool in one list; duplicate, rename, delete, and export or import them all as one file.
Modify

Cut, lap and split bars that are already in the model.

  • Split at Opening — split host bars crossing a door, window, shaft or opening, drop the piece inside the hole and pull the new ends back by cover.
  • Split Rebar — cut selected bars at a point, detail line or reference plane, keeping both remnants.
  • Split Set — partition a set into two between bar positions, without changing any bar length.
  • Splice Rebar — cut and lap the two pieces through a point, as a multiple of bar diameter, with offset and alternate-bar stagger.
Rebar Visibility

Get a reinforced model back under control — view-wide, or scoped to one picked member.

  • Hide / Show / Select Rebar — category-wide control over reinforcement in the active view.
  • Show and hide obscured — draw bars through their concrete host, then put it back.
  • Delete Rebar — remove all reinforcement visible in the view, with confirmation, as one undo.
  • Hide, Select and Delete by Host — the same three, scoped to one picked member.
  • Isolate / Unisolate Rebar — show only one member and everything hosted by it, then restore the view.
Color Filter

Read the model at a glance by colouring the steel.

  • Color Filter — colour rebar in the view by the values of any instance or type parameter.
  • Reset Filters — clear every rebar colour override in the view.
Rebar Presentation

Make a congested section into something you can actually annotate.

  • Show Single — keep one representative bar per set, spaced so no two coincide, ready for a multi-leader callout.
  • Show All — restore every bar of every set in the view.
Detailing

The chain from model to workshop: annotate the bars, schedule them, lay them out on sheets and send them out.

  • Auto Range — places Revit’s aligned multi-rebar annotation on picked sets from two offsets measured off the host boundary, so the detail annotates identically every time.
  • Bending Schedule — a real Revit schedule per rebar partition: bar mark, shape and the A–F bending dimensions, every number taken from Revit.
  • Plot Schedules — splits each schedule into sets and lays them across sheets automatically, wrapping to new rows and sheets, never past the border, in one undo.
  • Shape Legend — draws a 1:1 picture legend of every shape code the schedules print.
  • Export to Excel — writes the selected partitions to one workbook, a tab per partition, in an order you set.
CoWork

Get a fresh project ready, and get families back out of it.

  • Import Standards — brings in rebar shapes, bar types, annotation resources, schedule templates and presets from the country template.
  • Family Export — batch-saves loaded families out as .rfa files into category sub-folders.

Before you get started

Compatibility, supported geometry and the settings you can reuse.

Which Revit version do I need?

Elemento is built for Autodesk Revit 2027 on 64-bit Windows.

Can I reinforce sloped slabs?

Yes. Slabs / Floors supports planar slabs up to 45°, including slopes made with a slope arrow or shape editing. Spacing is measured along the slab plane. Multi-plane and warped slabs are not supported. The separate Slab / Wall Opening tool supports level slabs only.

Can I reuse settings in another project?

Yes. Save named presets, then use Preset Manager to export and import them. Import Standards supplies the project resources they need. Missing bar types are flagged so you can import them or choose a replacement.

Is the reinforcement native to Revit?

Elemento creates Revit reinforcement elements. Slabs / Floors offers Standard, Free-form and Smart Sets creation modes. Smart Sets give varying sets editable spacing and require Elemento to be installed for those sets to regenerate.

Which standards are included?

The South Africa template supplies SANS 282 reinforcement resources through Import Standards. Review the detailing settings and resulting schedules against your project requirements.
